Kurnool: Adoni taluka police have registered a case in connection with the rape of a 16-year-old minor tribal girl by an auto driver in Adoni. The victim, from the Pathikonda area, had travelled to Yemmiganur for medical treatment.
On Friday evening, the girl mistakenly boarded a bus to Adoni and was waiting for the Yemmiganur bus at the Adoni bus stand when auto driver Sandipogu Ramesh approached her. The accused lured the minor into his vehicle and took her to a deserted location where he raped her. He later left her near a girls’ hostel in Adoni at midnight.
Hostel staff who noticed the girl immediately complained to the taluka police. Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act against the accused S. Ramesh. According to Adoni DSP M. Hemalatha, the accused is absconding, and police are working to arrest him.
