Ola Electric Announces Mass Roll-Out of MoveOS 5; The Biggest Software Upgrade Yet

Bengaluru: Ola Electric, India’s largest pure-play EV company, today announced the mass roll-out of its MoveOS 5 software. MoveOS is the company’s proprietary and in-house developed software for both its S1 range of scooters and the recently launched Roadster X motorcycles. With the upgrade to MoveOS 5, the company has unlocked more potential of its product by offering enhanced performance, better reliability, and increased range.

Spokesperson, Ola Electric said, “MoveOS 5 is the latest upgrade in our journey to build the most advanced and intelligent OS for EV two wheelers. This upgrade isn’t just about new features, it fundamentally enhances the performance, reliability, and range of our vehicles. With smarter energy management, real-time system monitoring, more user control over ride settings, we’re enabling our riders to get more out of every ride. MoveOS 5 is a reflection of our commitment to continuous innovation and product evolution, and it’s been engineered to deliver a riding experience that is not only more personalized, but also more robust, efficient, and future-ready.”

Below are some of the key features of MoveOS 5:

Improved Range, Enhanced Riding Experience

The MoveOS 5 upgrade is even more powerful on the Gen 3 platform and Ola Electric has optimized its in house Motor Control Unit (MCU) to improve range and deliver a more refined, responsive riding experience. MoveOS 5 also introduces advanced battery management features on all generations of vehicles allowing for enhancing battery performance and health. These enhancements also enable smarter energy recuperation through improved regen, resulting in better overall performance, and increased reliability.

Enhanced Convenience

DIY Mode empowers riders to take full control of their riding experience by allowing them to configure top speed, power, throttle sensitivity, and regenerative braking – creating a custom riding mode tailored precisely to their preferences.

Road-Trip Mode transforms the group riding experience with seamless coordination, real-time tracking, and built-in safety features. Riders can create a group, add members, and effortlessly plan multi-stop routes. Trips can be started instantly or scheduled for later, with all members tracked in real time on Ola Maps. SOS alerts can be triggered by any member in case of emergencies or to regroup, while admins can edit routes and manage access for smooth, uninterrupted journeys.

Easy Park allows for more controlled maneuvers in tight spaces when parking. Riders can twist the throttle clockwise to go reverse or anticlockwise to go forward, with the speed limited to 4 km/h in both directions for better control and safety.

Safety and Security

Live Location Sharing allows riders to share their vehicle’s location with others effortlessly via Vehicle HMI or Ola Electric App. Riders can set a custom duration or stop sharing manually at any time. The HMI supports contact syncing, lets riders select up to five recipients, and sends a secure, browser- based tracking link for easy real-time location viewing.

SOS Alerts enhance rider safety by allowing pre-selection of emergency contacts through the Ola Electric App and triggering alerts in case of safety scenarios alerting rider’s emergency contacts with the rider’s live location.

Find My Vehicle makes it easier for riders to locate their vehicle easily in crowded or low-visibility areas. Riders can activate a combination of lights and sound via the Ola Electric App.

Notifications

Notification Centre allows riders to receive important phone notifications from a selected set of apps on the vehicle’s HMI, with smart controls to toggle between full content, message count, or a turn these off for distraction-free ride. WhatsApp alerts can be tailored to show messages from everyone, just favourites, or none at all.

Infotainment Widgets

The Cricket Widget displays live match scores, while the Weather Widget provides real-time updates on temperature and AQI based on the rider’s current location.

The MoveOS 5 upgrade will be rolled-out to all S1 and Roadster X via an OTA upgrade starting this week.
