Abdullapurmet Sub-Registrar Office Locked Over 40 Months Of Unpaid Rent, Public Services Disrupted

Hyderabad:The sub-registrar office in Abdullapurmet, Rangareddy district, was locked by the building owner on Monday due to rent dues pending since 2022. The office had reportedly failed to clear rent for nearly 40 months.

The landlord, named Raju, said he received no response to his numerous representations to the registration department for rend. “I’ve been suffering financial losses for years. Left with no option, I locked the premises to pressure the authorities,” he said.

The incident caused major disruption to public services, particularly on a Monday when registrations are usually high. Dozens of citizens who had booked slots for property registration and other formalities were forced to leave the premises in frustration.

The closure triggered public outrage, as the issue has spotlighted the lack of financial discipline in government departments. Citizens have appealed to higher authorities to intervene and reopen the office at the earliest.
