Hyderabad: Residents of Bachupally’s Antilia gated community held relay protests against HYDRAA for demolishing a compound wall that they had raised in their premises. They raised slogans that HYDRAA had demolished the wall on June 24 without giving them notice.
HYDRAA denied that it was a gated community, the wall was illegal and was blocking access to colonies down the road.
The residents alleged that the agency had demolished the wall to pave a road for some villa residents for their convenience. This had created a major security concern for more than 600 families living inside the gated community, they said.
The Agency has not paid any attention to the concerns of the people living in the community, they alleged.
HYDRAA officials in response claimed that it was not a gated community. “They blocked pre-existing roads and built high compound walls. We received complaints about it, after which we inspected the walls and removed them.”
A HYDRAA official said: “In the HMDA’s final approved map, one of the conditions is that the applicant is not permitted to construct the compound wall around the site, and not to block roads which provided access to neighbouring land parcels.”
Residents said that they would continue protesting against HYDRAA until the agency rebuilt the wall.
