CM Naidu To Release Srisailam Waters Today

Kurnool:With the Srisailam reservoir filling to its brim, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to release the water on Tuesday afternoon.

Irrigation authorities have predicted that the dam would reach its full capacity by late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Flood inflows to Srisailam have risen sharply, with 1,71,550 cusecs entering the reservoir from the Jurala and Sunkesula projects. As of 7pm on Monday, the outflow from Srisailam stood at 83,233 cusecs. Of the reservoir’s total capacity of 215tmc-ft, water storage has reached 189tmc-ft.

Water is arriving at the reservoir system at a rate of 29,159 cusecs from Jurala, 79,200 cusecs via the spillway and 59,310 cusecs from Sunkesula. Currently, 67,433 cusecs are being released through the right and left bank powerhouses to manage the levels.

The chief minister would arrive at Srisailam at 10:50am. He would visit the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple before proceeding to release water. The release ceremony and offering of Jala Harathi would take place between 11:50am and 12:10pm.

Later, Naidu would interact with water users at Sundipenta village before departing for Vijayawada by helicopter at 1:30pm.
