Congress, BRS Verbal Duel Escalates in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: A verbal feud between the ruling Congress and opposition BRS has escalated in Karimnagar district’s Manakondur Assembly constituency, with both sides circulating posters containing offensive content.

The dispute centres on the delayed construction of a two-lane road linking Gundlapalli to Pothur village. BRS leaders allege that the state government, despite allocating funds, has stalled the project. Congress leaders counter that the previous BRS administration neglected the work, resulting in the present delays.

The debate turned personal when both parties began issuing derogatory posters. BRS activists targeted the current Congress MLA, questioning his dedication and progress in office over the past 18 months. In response, Congress members attacked former BRS MLA R. Balakrishna’s 10-year record, using disparaging language.

Recordings of leaders exchanging insults have gone viral on social media, damaging the reputations of those involved. Despite publicly decrying the abusive posters, both parties are planning protests. Meanwhile, constituents have expressed disappointment and concern, wondering why their elected representatives, who campaigned on development platforms, are resorting to personal attacks instead of focusing on local progress.
