Crackdown On Reel Crazy Cops In MP Launched

Bhopal: A craze among some cops in Madhya Pradesh to be visible on the social media by posting their videos and reels in uniform has caused embarrassment to the state police department, leading it to launch a crackdown on them.

Rewa range inspector general of police Gaurav Rajput on Tuesday ordered disciplinary action against the police personnel who make videos and reels using department resources such as police station, jeeps and weapons and post them on social media.

“Such actions amount to indiscipline and strict action will be taken against these cops”, he said.

Accordingly, the Rewa range deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Rajesh Singh Chandel wrote letters to all the police chiefs of six districts under the range, Rewa, Sidhi, Satna, Maihar, Singrauli and Mauganj, to initiate disciplinary action against the cops who indulge in making funny videos and post them on social media.

Such videos hurt the public image of the police department, the letter said.

The order comes in the wake of recent incidents in which a couple of female cops were seen making videos of singing Bollywood songs and posting them on social media.

Ankita Mishra, in-charge of Sagra police station in Rewa district, was seen in a video singing a romantic song of a Bollywood film.

The video was shot in her police station and she was in uniform then.

The video has gone viral on social media.

In another video, she was seen posing before a police jeep carrying some leaves of a tree while being flanked by two cops.

In another incident, in-charge of City Kotwali police station in the district Sandhya Verma was seen in a video singing a Bollywood song, in uniform.

The video has gone viral on social media.
