GHMC Asks RWAs to Not Obstruct Postmen

Hyderabad:Highlighting the instances of apartments and residential associations denying entry to postmen, GHMC asked the resident welfare associations (RWAs) to direct facility managers to ensure that postmen do not face any inconvenience.

The RWAs have been asked to make lifts available for postmen, in addition to unrestricted access to reach the flat or house.

The instruction was issued following a letter written by the Chief Postmaster General (CPMG), Telangana, on inconvenience being faced by postmen at apartments. On Sunday, the letter issued by the CPMG was shared in WhatsApp groups of housing societies.

“We have briefed the security staff and others regarding the issue. We will also ensure that postmen do not face any inconvenience,” said a housing society member told Deccan Chronicle. “We explained to residents that the restrictions could delay their documents too, including passports, driving licences, etc.,” he added.

The PMG also mentioned that RWAs should install and maintain approved letterboxes as mandated under the Post Office Act, 2023. “Addressees are requested to provide written authorisation (address instructions) to the postman in case of their unavailability, for future deliveries to their authorised representatives,” said the CPMG.
