Shekhar Kapoor is making a spiritual sequel to his 1983 classic Masoom which starred Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah.
When asked whether his daughter Kaveri is a part of the movie, the director replied in the affirmative.
He also revealed the stunning cast of his proposed sequel. It will star the stalwarts from the original, Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah, who will be getting together for the first time since the short film Rice Plate in 2007.
And that’s not all. Shekhar reveals that Manoj Bajpayee and Nithya Menen will also join the cast. For the National award winners, this would be their first film with Shekhar Kapoor. The director proudly points out that Masoom 2 stars four National award winners.
Shekhar’s last Hindi directorial was MrIndia in 1987. When pointed out that he has only made seven feature films in his career, Shekhar says, “It doesn’t matter how many years have passed since I last did a Hindi film. I have never been out of touch with the Indian film industry. I have never seen Bollywood as the be-all-end-all of cinema. I am back and I am very excited to direct such an eclectic and talented cast.”
