
Hyderabad:Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) CMD N. Balram planted 204 fruit-bearing trees at the Kothagudem Bungalow area on Monday as part of Vanamahotsavam celebrations, reaffirming his commitment to environmental protection.
Since planting 108 trees on World Environment Day in 2019, Balram has planted a total of 19,775 trees across the Singareni areas. Addressing the gathering, he said environmental protection must not be left to government agencies alone and called on workers, employees and their families to participate by planting at least three trees each.
The CMD announced that Singareni will distribute fruit saplings free of cost to any interested individuals. The company has already supplied 22.9 million fruit trees to residents of surrounding villages, encouraging self-sufficiency through cultivation. Overall, SCCL has planted 54.7 million trees on 15,231 hectares and continues to maintain these plantations.
He said planting trees is a more meaningful legacy than material inheritance, providing communities with a lasting green environment.
Senior officials, including director (e&m) D. Satyanarayana Rao, director (pperations) L.V. Suryanarayana, director (planning & projects) K. Venkateshwarlu and others from various departments were present during the event.
