Sridhar Babu Proposes Special TG-Taiwan Zone

Hyderabad:IT and industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Friday invited industrialists from Taiwan to invest in the state’s expanding textile sector, highlighting its superior potential compared to other Indian states. The minister was speaking at a meeting with an 11-member delegation from the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), led by its president Justin Huang, at the Telangana Secretariat. The delegation comprised representatives of leading Taiwanese textile firms.

Sridhar Babu noted that the state’s projected Gross State Value Added (GSVA) from industries stands at Rs 2.77 lakh crore for 2024–25, with textiles playing a significant role. He emphasised Telangana’s reputation for producing some of the country’s finest cotton, strengthening its position as a textile leader.

At the core of the state’s textile push is the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP), a flagship project offering integrated world-class infrastructure across ginning, spinning, weaving, processing and garmenting. KMTP has already attracted major investors, including Youngone, Kitex and Ganesha Ecosphere. Its location along the Hyderabad–Nagpur–Vijayawada Industrial Corridor provides a strong logistical advantage.

The minister identified key areas of potential investment, such as functional textiles, eco-friendly dyeing and textile recycling. He assured the delegation of Telangana’s commitment to industrial growth through global partnerships and promised customised land parcels, plug-and-play facilities, skilled labour, political stability and geographic advantages.

Sridhar Babu also proposed collaboration in technical textiles, Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), sustainable production, innovation and research and development. He suggested the creation of a Telangana–Taiwan Manufacturing Zone and exclusive textile clusters to encourage Taiwanese firms to set up base in the state.

Industries director Nikhil Chakravarthy, textiles director Dharani, TTF section chief Arthur Chiang and representatives from Taiwanese firms, including Tainan Enterprise Co. Ltd., Lily Group, Alchemy Taiwan Ltd., Sing Young Ho Enterprise Co. Ltd., Far Eastern New Century Corporation, Little King Global Co. Ltd. and You-Bong Enterprise Co. Ltd., were present at the meeting. The meeting reflected strong mutual interest in future cooperation.
