1. Pahalgam attack: Nearly 50 tourist spots in Kashmir shut amid security concerns
After deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, 48 out of 87 public parks and tourist sites in Jammu and Kashmir have been closed

The closed spots include both well-known and emerging tourist spots such as Dooshpathri, Kokernag, Duksum, Sinthan Top, Acchabal, Bangus Valley, Margan Top, and Tosamaidan.

Though not announced through a formal government order, the closures of these tourist spots have been enforced on the ground, with gates locked and access blocked to several popular destinations.
In the case of several Mughal Gardens in south Kashmir, the doors to these spots have been locked.
The decision to shut down the tourist locations comes a week after terrorists shot dead 26 persons, mostly tourists, at Baisaran meadows in Pahalgam resort.
2. Gurez, Verinag among 50 Kashmir locations closed for tourists following Pahalgam attack

The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to shut down around 50 tourist destinations and trekking trails in the Valley citing security reasons after last week’s terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam.
The destinations that have been shut down for not having “adequate” security presence included famous resorts like the Gurez valley, Dodapathri, Verinag, the Bangus valley and Yusmarg.
Officials said the government decided to close these destinations for the “safety of the tourists” after last Tuesday’s attack in Pahalgam left 25 tourists and one local dead. Tourist destinations that do have adequate security presence remain open, they said
The Bangus valley in north Kashmir’s Kupwara and Verinag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag have also been closed for tourists.
The Kaman post in Uri, on the LoC, that had been opened for tourists some time ago, has also now been closed. It had been a favourite spot among picnickers both from within and outside Kashmir.

The government has also decided to close Kousarnag, a high-altitude lake in south Kashmir’s Shopian, for tourists. Kousarnag is also a trekking trail famous with the adventure tourists and trekkers.
In Srinagar city, the government has decided not to allow the tourists to visit Jamia Masjid — the grand mosque at the heart of the Old City.
Officials said police and paramilitary forces will erect checkpoints outside these tourist destinations and not allow them to go beyond designated areas
3. 2 killed, 56 injured after leaking oil tanker explodes in Pakistan

A leaking oil tanker caught fire and exploded along a dusty road in southwestern Pakistan, killing two people and injuring 56 others, officials said Tuesday.
The explosion happened as firefighters were trying to put out the fire Monday in the Naushki district of Balochistan province, local police officer Atta Ullah said.
Firefighters and people in a crowd that had gathered at the scene were among the injured. The tanker driver and a bystander were killed.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge urges PM Modi to convene special Parliament session to discuss Pahalgam terror attack

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking for a special session of Parliament on the Pahalgam terror attack. He said both the Houses of Parliament should be convened, “where representatives of the people can show their unity and determination”.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack and demonstrate a collective resolve
Several opposition MPs have made a similar demand to the government in the wake of the dastardly attack in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed last week, leaving the nation grief-stricken and outraged.
5. Solidarity in wake of Pahalgam attack testimony to international community’s zero tolerance for terrorism: India

India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Yojna Patel.
India said that the “strong, unequivocal” support and solidarity extended by global leaders in the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam is a testimony to the international community’s “zero tolerance” for terrorism.
“The Pahalgam terrorist attack represents the largest number of civilian casualties since the horrific 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008,” India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Yojna Patel, said.
Ms. Patel was speaking at the hybrid launch event for the ‘Victims of Terrorism Association Network’ (VoTAN) of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism at the world body’s headquarters on Monday.
She said that “India deeply appreciates and values the strong, unequivocal support and solidarity extended by leaders and governments across the world in the wake of the recent terrorist attack at Pahalgam, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This is a testimony to the international community’s zero tolerance for terrorism.” The April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam killed 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen. The victims were mostly tourists from all across India.
Global leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, Russian President Vladimir Putin, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and expressed their condolences and solidarity with India.
