Youth Killed After Clash with Cattle Smugglers in Gorakhpur

In a tragic incident late Monday night, a 19-year-old NEET aspirant named Deepak Gupta was killed during a clash with suspected cattle smugglers in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The smugglers entered the village of Mawa Achapee under Pipraich to illegally abduct cattle. When villagers, including Deepak, chased them, the smugglers dragged Deepak into their vehicle, beat him, and threw him from the moving vehicle, causing fatal head injuries.

Deepak’s lifeless body was found about 4 kilometers from his home after his family searched for him through the night. Local residents claim that the student was shot, but police reports deny any involvement of firearms based on initial forensic findings. Anger and grief spread in the village as locals blocked the Gorakhpur-Pipraich road and set one of the smugglers’ vehicles on fire.

Authorities quickly responded. Senior police officials, including Superintendent Raj Karan Nayyar and Deputy Inspector General S Chinappa, visited the area to restore order and investigate. Senior UP Police officers and extra security forces were deployed to prevent further unrest. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the incident and ordered strict action against those responsible.

The victim’s family has demanded compensation, a government job for a family member, and legal protection for protesting villagers. The case is under active investigation with multiple teams identifying suspects for imminent arrests.

This incident highlights ongoing tensions and lawlessness related to cattle smuggling in the region, provoking public outrage and calling for better policing and security measures.
